Every recording session has a beast and this was ours. Pushing upwards of 90 versions, we had listened to this track exhaustively and weren’t sure how to resolve it. Our exceptional mixing engineer Nate “Nitz” Russell, not only provided a phenomenal mix, but also tamed this unruly song.
Introductions started in Brian’s studio as a subtle, ambient drone and developed into the whomping piece that it is. Opening with a whisper, it builds as synths, samples, wind, waves, guitars, and voice crescendo into an arrangement that drops neatly into a bass-driven 4/4 throb.
