We met in NYC in March of 2008 to wrap up the track, Through a Rebel Heart and work on some new ideas. Bob had been working on a rough version of Self Motivation Project, and while the rhythm was already in place, we spent a lot of time expanding the melodic pallet. What we needed were pianos, classical guitars, and more synths. We balanced this melodic approach with breaks which were designed to tear through all the beauty. Accordingly, there’s two movements going on here. The first is a nod toward classical IDM and the second toward drone ambient.
